João Pedro da Rocha

Background

João Pedro was born in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil, and began his journey in martial arts at a very young age. At 7 he took his first steps in judo, and at 9 he was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by his older brother. For several years he trained in both disciplines, but over time he discovered his true passion in Jiu-Jitsu and decided to dedicate himself fully to the sport.

Today, at 25, João Pedro is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the renowned Master Barbosa. Before earning his black belt, he spent many years training under his first professor, Luciano Marcos — better known as "Jabá" — who played a fundamental role in building the strong technical foundation and values he carries with him both on and off the mats.

Career

Throughout his career, João Pedro has achieved major accomplishments and established himself among the top athletes in the sport. His most notable titles include CBJJE Absolute World Champion, BJJ Stars 10 Champion, multiple IBJJF Open Champion titles, and IBJJF / CBJJ Brazilian Vice Champion, among many others. His journey has taken him around the world, competing internationally and teaching seminars in different countries — experiences that expanded both his perspective on the sport and on life itself.

Teaching

Now living in Miami, Florida, João Pedro continues to dedicate himself to constant growth as both an athlete and an instructor. More than simply teaching fighting techniques, his mission is to pass on the values he learned throughout his journey: discipline, respect, character, and humility.

For João Pedro, the true purpose of Jiu-Jitsu goes far beyond medals and titles. His goal is to help shape better people through the sport. "There is no point in being a great athlete if you are not a good person," he says. That philosophy is the lesson he strives to teach every day, both on and off the mats.
